New Public Hearings? / Update

A Citizens Exploratory Committee for Health and Safety (CECHS) member recently received the following response from Councilman Albus Brooks regarding the possibility of convening new public hearings that would examine the safety and health impacts of the Zoo’s gasification-pyrolysis system:

Unfortunately, Denver City Council will not be holding any more public hearings on the Zoo’s incinerator as the public hearing and vote happened in 2014 of December with only two speakers in opposition.  The Zoo still needs appropriate administrative approvals – permits, etc., once they have obtained this in  Q4 of 2015 or Q1 of 2016, I have asked Councilman Clark for an update in the committee he leads (Infrastructure and Culture.)

I hope that helps. Also Council can only rescind the certificate designation for “failure of a solid waste disposal site and facility to comply with all applicable laws, resolutions and ordinances.”
